Northern Irish oat miller White’s has developed a high-protein porridge aimed at consumers that are focused on an active and healthy lifestyle.
The new ActivOat high-protein porridge was designed to provide all the key nutrients from oats with the addition of soy protein to deliver a high nutritional boost. It is available in apple and cinnamon varieties in 240g pack sizes, with six protein porridge sachets in each pack.
The product was trialled with professional rugby union team Ulster Rugby as part of its food first approach to performance nutrition.
White’s brand manager Danielle McBride said: “Protein is essential to the growth and repair of muscle and is a perfect fit when training. White’s ActivOat high protein provides all nine essential amino acids, the vital building blocks of muscle growth, and delivers 10.5g of protein in a 40g serving, more than double than in a standard serving of porridge.
“Oats, with their inherent health properties, provide all the key nutrients, vitamins, minerals, complex carbohydrates and energy to support training and performance on and off the pitch.”
Ulster Rugby head of strength and conditioning Jonny Davis added: “It is essential for Ulster Rugby players to vary their protein sources through their training day and week. Targeting foods high in protein, with a low glycaemic index, is key to enhancing the individual player’s performance which drives team performance on the pitch.”
