Irish cooked meat company O’Brien Fine Foods has expanded into the UK market with the acquisition of Bearfields of London for an undisclosed sum.
Kildare-based O’Brien Fine Foods, which produces the brands Brady Family, Homebird and Green Farm, operates three manufacturing facilities in Ireland with over 500 staff. The company provides branded and own-label meat products to major retailers, including Tesco, Lidl, Dunnes, the Musgrave Group and BWG Foods.
Founded in 1906, Bearfields of London supplies both branded and own-label raw and cooked ham to customers, including Lidl and Costco. The family-run business has a team of over 100 staff.
“This acquisition allows us to enter the UK market with an established and successful business,” said O’Brien Fine Foods’ managing director, John O’Brien. “We look forward to working to develop the brand and offering further through investment in the business and the people.”
O’Brien Fine Foods says that the acquisition came into effect on 1 December.
