Designed to help today’s busy women lead healthier lives, the 12-week Go Red BetterU programme is free, convenient and geared towards providing guidance to transform the overall health of women through small, simple choices.
To help participants stay on track and motivated throughout the 12-week course, Ocean Spray is proud to support the ‘Go Red BetterMe Coaching Tool’. This key component of the programme can live on the desktop of a computer, blog or even an iGoogle personalised homepage to guide and motivate participants through weekly courses such as locating a support system, finding a healthy weight and learning how your family history can play a role in your health.
The online tool also provides daily diet and exercise reminders, shares interactive videos from other women enrolled in the programme, and enables participants to update their journal and share their story with a friend. It also automatically awards participants virtual ‘Brag Badges’, gold ribbons placed on the tool next to the user’s picture that signify the completion of certain levels.
“Ocean Spray is thrilled to support Go Red For Women and the Go Red BetterMe Coaching Tool,” said Larry Martin, vice president of marketing at Ocean Spray. “Meaningful, long-lasting changes don’t happen overnight, but the tool provides the resources programme participants need to stay in the game.”
To raise awareness about the programme internally, Ocean Spray employees are encouraged to participate in the 12-week programme, and Melanie Harvey – an administrative assistant in Ocean Spray’s Agricultural Supply Development department, who has been with Ocean Spray for five years – will blog about her experience at the Ocean Spray website.
“I’m inspired by Ocean Spray’s commitment to Go Red For Women and excited to embark on a journey that I hope will inspire my family and my extended Ocean Spray family as well,” said Harvey, whose decision to participate in Go Red BetterU and blog about her journey is the result of a hereditary and often fatal heart condition shared by her mother and sister.
“I have a lot of living to do,” added Harvey. “I have no control over whether I share this hereditary condition with my mother and sister, but I can control what I eat and how often I exercise, how I manage my cholesterol and blood pressure and not to ignore symptoms of heart disease. The Go Red BetterU program and BetterMe Coaching Tool will teach me to make better choices each day about my health so that I live a long, healthy life not only for me but for my mother, my sister and my daughter. I can’t wait to share my story.”
