Orkla Food Ingredients has agreed to acquire UK-based chocolatier and confectioner County Confectionery through its NIC Enterprises subsidiary.
County Confectionery supplies UK retailers, wholesalers and foodservice clients with a range of confectionery products such as fudge and chocolate, and the company has been a long-standing supplier to Orkla.
The company was established in 1983, and its head office and production facilities are located in St. Ives in Cornwall, UK.
County registered a turnover of £8.6m for the financial year ending May 2018, and the company’s results will be consolidated into Orkla’s financial statements from 1 October 2018.
Financial details of the transaction were not disclosed by either company.
Tor Osmundsen, the CEO of NIC Group said: “County’s has a long history of manufacturing high-quality fudge and chocolate products.
“Orkla Food Ingredients and County’s are a good strategic fit, and the acquisition complements Orkla Food Ingredients’ position as a supplier of ingredients and accessories to the UK bakery, chocolate and ice cream market.”
