Ortek Therapeutics has created an enamel-protecting candy called BasicBites, which uses prebiotic technology to protect teeth.
According to Ortek, the BasicBites Soft Chews coat teeth with nutrients such as arginine bicarbonate and calcium carbonate, which are naturally found in saliva and help to support enamel health.
BasicBites also contains calcium and bicarbonate, and calcium can be reabsorbed into the teeth through remineralisation supporting dental health, while bicarbonate provide additional buffering against sugar.
Ortek recommends that consumers eat two BasicBites per day, one after breakfast and one after brushing their teeth in the evening, and clinical trials have shown that the candies help to protect enamel health over one year.
Each candy is sugar-free, 15 calories per piece and are suitable for children over the age of and adults.
Mitchell Goldberg, president of Ortek Therapeutics said: “BasicBites are a dream come true for parents and their children.
“Now there’s a delicious oral care product that can be enjoyed after flossing and brushing every day, not just during Halloween.”
