Finnish pulp and paper manufacturer Stora Enso has provided the board materials for Europe’s first digital printing press dedicated to the manufacture of chocolate and confectionery boxes.
German firm Pfäffle has made the packaging uses the company’s new HP Indigo 30000 digital printing press, which focuses on folding carton applications for the chocolate and confectionery segment.
Pfäffle managing director Detlef Behrens said: “The feedback from our customers has been very positive and some products are already in the shops. We are happy to have brands like Lindt, Galeria Kaufhof, Hachez etc. aboard.
“With digital printing, we are able to produce small and medium quantities in as good quality as offset at a very competitive price. Beside quality and price, time to market and personalisation will be the main drivers for this growing business. Our future plan is that our customers can expect delivery times and services that go beyond litho printing. We are talking about 48 to 72 hours for samples and small series and 7 to 10 working days for normal production.”
