Papa John’s Pizza has introduced a lower-fat cheese option as a topping on all of its pizzas, and is hoping that the lighter option will appeal to both new and existing customers who are conscious about what they eat.
The new cheese has been developed in response to consumer feedback, which revealed that consumers wanted the freedom to choose between Papa John’s regular cheese offering and a new, lighter option. The cheese contains one-third less fat than usual, but the brand expects the combination of low-fat cheese and premium ingredients to maintain the taste that consumers are accustomed to.
“As a pizza maker, my goal has always been to bring people together around quality pizza that everyone can enjoy,” said Papa John, founder, chairman, president and CEO of Papa John’s Pizza.
“We want to accommodate different preferences, so we added lower fat cheese to give people more options, while still delivering the same better ingredients that make for better taste.”
Gareth Davies, regional vice-president for Western Europe and Papa John’s UK, added: “We’re always tinkering with new menu items and recipes, and this is a great option for people who prefer pizza on the lighter side.
“You won’t find any processed low-calorie ingredients because our menu items are made from the same better ingredients our customers expect from us.
“This means new and existing customers can now enjoy high-quality, lower-fat cheese pizza, combined with other lighter options on Papa John’s menu, such as the Snog frozen yogurt, or the new chargrilled corn on the cob.”
