UK ingredients company Pecan Deluxe Candy (Europe) has broken ground on a £3 million factory extension to enhance its manufacturing capabilities.
Located in North Yorkshire, the project is due for completion in October 2018 and will “significantly expand the warehousing, logistics and manufacturing demands of the business”.
Recognising demand for the company’s frozen ingredients, the investment also includes provision of loading canopies and the addition of new on-site frozen storage units which will be powered by a dedicated substation.
Pecan Deluxe provides thousands of inclusions, toppings and decorations, including praline nuts and seeds, cookie dough, and flavoured fudges.
Stephanie Cryer, Pecan Deluxe finance director, said: “Thanks to its reputation across Europe as an innovative food tailor for any type of food company, Pecan Deluxe Europe has had an incredibly successful year with a record turnover of £13.5 million.
“We expect our growth to continue with £15 million turnover anticipated for next year and further growth into the 2020s – thanks in no small part to this expansion and enhancement of our R&D and production operations.
“Pecan Deluxe already offers international standard ingredient development and production facilities, and we expect our latest investment to consolidate our reputation for innovation and quality within the food manufacturing arena, thus underpinning our ongoing growth and of course creating the opportunity for further investment to help provide customers across the world with their next new product launch.”
Last year, the company launched a new bubble gum-flavoured popping candy which is designed to be combined with ice cream, cakes, doughnuts and other bakery lines.
