PepsiCo’s Frito-Lay division has boosted its Doritos tortilla chip brand in the US with a new Flamin’ Hot Nacho variant, in a move to spice up the snack aisle for the new year.
The new flavour offers a combination of the hot and spicy flavour of Flamin’ Hot and the “timeless” flavour of original Nacho Cheese.
Flamin’ Hot Nacho is the chip brand’s latest push into the hot and spicy food category, one of the fastest-growing segments in the food industry, PepsiCo said. The launch follows on from the introduction of Doritos Blaze last year.
Leslie Vesper, senior director of marketing at Frito-Lay North America, said: “Doritos Flamin’ Hot Nacho is a new, unique flavour that gives fans the essence of the original Doritos Nacho Cheese with a flamin’ hot kick we know snackers love.
“We’re excited to bring together two of our most popular flavours just in time to spice up the snack aisle for the new year.”
The new product is now available in the US with a suggested retail price of $4.29 for 9.75oz bags and $1.89 for 3.125oz bags
PepsiCo’s Frito Lay North America division – which also includes brands such as Cheetos and Tostitos – has recently been a driver of growth for the company.
