PepsiCo has “answered the call” for spicy snacks with the addition of a spicy jalapeño ranch flavour to its Smartfood brand of popcorn.
The new flavour combines the spice of jalapeños with a cool and creamy finish for an unforgettable taste, the company said. With 100% whole grains, a light and airy crunch and just the right amount of heat, this popcorn will be a snacking staple for spice lovers and falls in line with increasing demand for snacking options with a bit of heat.
Recent studies have shown many consumers rank “spicy” among their top three flavour preferences, and the new Smartfood flavour will sate consumers’ appetite with a “bold and versatile flavour”.
“The flavour experts on the Smartfood team are continually inspired by new flavour trends and keep exploring new recipes to reflect consumers ever evolving taste,” said Tyler Chapman, vice president of marketing for Smartfood Popcorn. “We are thrilled to introduce the new spicy jalapeño ranch flavour and provide our customers with a delicious and mouth-watering option for those moments when they want a bit more heat.”
Spicy jalapeño ranch popcorn contains no artificial colours, flavours or preservatives. Air popped and ready-to-eat, each serving contains 150 and covers a range of suggested retail prices from $1.49 to $3.99.
It joins a growing portfolio of Smartfood popcorn flavour offerings, including white cheddar cheese, butter, and sweet and salty kettle corn.
