Pesto brand Sacla has launched a new SunBlush tomato pesto made from sweet Italian SunBlush tomatoes.
Available now in the UK, the 12th pesto in Sacla’s range will offer the brand a point of difference in the increasingly busy tomato pesto category. With a sweet and delicate flavour profile from sweet and juicy Italian SunBlush tomatoes, the new variant makes a great inclusion in antipasti dishes and is ideal for adding to homemade soups or dips, as a pizza topping or spreading onto fish before baking.
The pesto market is currently worth £39.1m with year-on-year growth of 3%, Sacla said; its portfolio of pestos are worth £22.4m, giving the brand more than 57% of the segment.
Sacla SunBlush tomato pesto will be available in Waitrose and Ocado with a recommended retail price of £2.30 for a 190g jar.
Clare Blampied, managing director of Sacla UK, said: “We are delighted to be growing the pesto category further and developing the brand in line with consumers’ favourite ingredients – currently SunBlush tomatoes are currently growing at 8.4% year on year in the UK.”
