Italy-based PET Engineering has created a new PET container, which is specifically formulated for liquid milk.
The aim of the new container project was to develop a monolayer PET bottle alternative to multilayer HDPE and carton, for ESL and UHT milk, in order to decrease the production cost and get better handling and ‘pour ability’.
PET Engineering’s design process resulted in a bottle with a depth that was constructed to be placed in the door fridge in accordance with the capacity of standard refrigerators, and a large label area with a substantial communication space.
The material used for the creation is standard PET added with DCU by Novapet. This additive allows the same barrier performance of a multilayer preform and offers low machinery costs. DCU is an product that can easily be added to PET using a single-stage process.
