Baby food start-up Piccolo has continued to extend its product range, launching a new collection of fruit purées.
Piccolo Pure ‘is an exciting new concept from the brand’ that it believes is a first of its kind for the UK market. The individually packaged purées are available in five flavours: apple, banana, stanley plum, mango and williams pear.
All of the ingredients used come from sustainable sources and two of the new products – the mango and banana flavours – are made exclusively from Fairtrade fruit. The move underlines Piccolo’s commitment to provenance and ethical sourcing, it said.
The brand – itself a baby in business terms – launched ranges of stage-one and stage-two baby food pouches last year.
Piccolo founder Cat Gazzoli said: “We are extremely proud to present Piccolo Pure. Weaning can be a daunting journey, but our new collection has been especially developed to give little ones the simple taste of delicious fruit for those first flavours.
“At Piccolo we are on a mission to encourage healthy eating from a young age and we believe our delicious pouches are the perfect way to do that.”
It is the only baby food brand to work in partnership with the National Childbirth Trust (NCT), best known for its antenatal classes for expectant parents. It donates 10% of its profits to food education causes, and is committed to sustainability in its supply chain and using only fresh ingredients.
The Piccolo Pure range of fruit purées will retail with a recommended price of £1 each.
