Unilever’s hot snack brand Pot Noodle has announced the introduction of a new sausage casserole variety.
Pot Noodle sausage casserole will launch in UK retailers next month for a price of £1.09 per unit, and joins the brand’s existing flavour innovations such as Jamaican jerk, sticky rib and Brazilian barbecue steak.
Its introduction will be supported by a £3m marketing campaign across television, digital and out-of-home advertising, and follows year-on-year growth of 3.2% in volume terms in the pot snacks category.
The development will seek to capitalise on growing demand for nostalgic British dishes, according to Pot Noodle’s marketing manager for Unilever UK. Monique Rossi said: “Taste and convenience are the top two drivers of growth within the instant hot snacks category. By launching a classic, flavoursome variant into our portfolio, we’re appealing to both male and female consumers who are looking for a satisfyingly simple snack with excellent taste credentials. “Celebrity chefs, such as James Martin and Jamie Oliver, have driven consumer appetite for nostalgic foods and flavours with TV programmes and cook books championing traditional dishes. The launch of our new sausage casserole variant aims to leverage this trend to drive sales.”
