Potato producer boosts growth with Soft Robotics

Located in Bakersfield, California, Tasteful Selections is a forward-thinking potato producer known not only for its bite-sized potatoes, but also for employing state-of-the-art production technology.

The company is always searching for business growth opportunities, so when it wanted to expand and optimise its potato production, Tasteful Selections saw robotic automation as the key.

Tasteful Selections approached Soft Robotics for help finding an end of arm tool (EoAT) robotic gripper that could reliably grab a shifting bag of potatoes while easing the positioning tolerance requirements of the robot and the machine vision imaging system guiding it.

The EoAT for this application needed to be able to handle a lot of variabilities.
