Fruit d’Or, a Québec company specialising in cranberry and wild blueberry processing, has announced its acquisition of Decas Cranberry Products.
Founded in 1934, Decas offers a line of fresh cranberries and various dried products under the Decas Farms brand, in addition to ingredient products for food manufacturers.
Located in Carver, Massachusetts, the company sources cranberries from its own 450 acres of bogs, as well as more than 150 independent cranberry farmers in the US and Canada.
The acquisition deal includes a processing plant and Decas producing acres. The Decas name will remain unchanged, and the Decas Farms brand will also be retained.
The company will operate as an American subsidiary of Fruit d’Or, which aims to strengthen its position in the North American and international markets through the acquisition.
“This acquisition supports the objective of strengthening Fruit d’Or’s positioning and will help meet the high international demand for berries,” said Carl Blouin, executive vice president and CEO of Fruit d’Or.
“To remain a leader in our field, we must constantly create new opportunities and focus on innovation. Together, we will be well positioned to bring our berries to new heights.”
Michael McManama, president and CEO at Decas Cranberry Products, added: “Decas and Fruit d’Or have common values and the same commitment. I am thrilled with the opportunity this will provide our customers, growers and employees. We are happy to take this step forward and join forces with Fruit d’Or, and we’re confident about the future.”
The financial terms of the transaction have not been disclosed.
