The Rémy Cointreau Group has announced that Philippe Farnier has been appointed as the new CEO of the House of Rémy Martin, effective from 1 June 2018.
Farnier – who currently serves as the CEO of the Americas region – will replace the outgoing Eric Vallet, who has served as the CEO of the House of Rémy Martin and the President of Mount Gay Rum since 2014.
This means Farnier will assume responsibility for the company’s Rémy Martin and Louis XIII brands.
The move means the company has had to restructure its executive committee, and the current CEO of its Global Travel Retail division Ian McLernon will replace Farnier as CEO of the Americas region once Farnier has assumed his new role.
David Ennes, who is currently CEO of the Asia region, will continue to operate in this role and will also take over MclErnon’s former role as CEO of Global Travel Retail.
Finally, Jean-Denis Voin, CEO of the company’s liqueurs and spirits division, will take over the responsibility of the Mount Gay Rum brand from Vallet.
Valérie Chapoulaud-Floquet, CEO of the Rémy Cointreau Group, stated: “On behalf of the Group, I would like to offer Eric my personal thanks for his continuous and inspired engagement since January 2014.
Within a challenging market environment, he successfully revamped the strategy of the House of Rémy Martin, accelerating its move upmarket, and building the foundations for a prosperous earnings outlook.
“I wish him every success in his future career, and I wish all the best to the members of the Executive Committee in their new roles.”
