Anglo Bubbly is now made from 100% natural colours and flavours, according to Tangerine Confectionery. The instantly recognisable bubble gum has maintained its trademark pear flavour and pink colouring. There has been a generous 50% boost in gum size, and packaging has also been refreshed to feature familiar yellow, pink and blue colours, but with a ‘funky and futuristic feel’.
Available in count-line boxes of 240 units, the RSP of each individual piece of bubble gum is five pence. A ‘market first’ pre-packed bag is also set to launch on 1 May 2009 with an RSP of £1.19. These 170g bags are scheduled to drive the brand within other sectors of the market. Associated shelf-ready units will hold 12 170g bags.
Sarah Brown, Anglo Bubbly assistant brand manager, said: “Anglo Bubbly is still the original and best British bubble gum and a must-stock item for all outlets carrying confectionery. We’re very excited to revive such a cult favourite. Adults who remember the brand from their childhood will still recognise the product. While the packaging has been modernised, we’ve maintained the much-loved retro feel. Children will love the new size as it offers the best bubble-blowing potential and value for money.
“Our pre-packed bubble gum bags are a market-first. We created them to encourage the fun and interaction of blowing bubbles with friends. We’re certain that this share-size format will be the ideal platform to help drive the brand within other retail sectors.”
The Anglo Bubbly relaunch will be supported by PR, trade advertising and sampling activities at trade shows.
