Can maker Rexam has installed a fully operational design reproduction studio in its UK design centre, as well as new technology in its Russian centre, which will combine to form an “unrivalled customer design offering”.
The new in-house design capabilities at its centre in Luton offer a simplified design process for both the creation of designs and full design reproduction. The investment now enables the customer to collaborate with Rexam experts through every step of the process, from design creation, ink rematching, colour separation and design reproduction, right through to proof can production. The company claimed that it was “the only beverage can maker to currently provide a full suite of design development capability under one roof”.
Meanwhile, it has expanded its design centre in Moscow with the addition of an in-house design reproduction offering. Investment in new design equipment including CTP technology, barcode software checkers, 3D visualisers and repro skill software will result in a reduction in the lead time required for the customer and efficient design amendment processes, the packaging manufacturer added.
Rexam director, graphics and design and customer fulfillment Paul Winwright said: “Since opening in September 2014, the Luton design centre has been a huge success. In the UK we’ve enjoyed working with over 100 customers on projects both big and small from the likes of Heineken, Carlsberg and SABMiller to local craft brewers such as Concrete Cow. Our Russian customers have also welcomed the new offering and we’ve developed over 650 designs working with brands including Efes and Coca Cola.
“The customer sits at the heart of our business and at Rexam, our team continually strives to develop and improve our offering. Working in collaboration with our customers through the design centres has delivered great results to date, and with further investment we will continue to be the can maker of choice for the world’s biggest brands.”
