Rod & Ben’s – the Devon producer of organic broths, dips, sauces and spreads – has launched two new soups in time for summer.
The first is a mushroom and thyme soup “with a generous hint of port”, which combines mushrooms with fresh thyme, Fonseca Terra Prima Reserva port, garlic and fresh milk. With flavours of earthy mushroom, fresh thyme and the subtle sweet warmth of port, the new product will widen Rod & Ben’s offering of healthy vegetarian and gluten-free soups.
“Mushroom is a much underused flavour and we identified it as a wholesome flavour missing from our range,” the brand said. “Its earthy flavour combined with the sweetness of port and freshness of thyme make it an ideal soup for a warm sunny evening or winter lunchtime snack.”
The second new soup is an aromatic chicken variety, with chicken, mushrooms, onions, fennel seed, onion seed, mustard seed, chilli powder, coriander and a drop of organic honey. A wholesome and filling chicken soup with the warming taste of aromatic spices and a mixture of vegetables, the launch will seek to capitalise on growth in the chicken soup segment and add something a little bit different to the brand’s product range.
“I love warmly spiced recipes and felt that chicken was ideal, so we added a few mushrooms, a mix of traditional aromatic Indian spices, vegetables and a drop of organic honey to create a great flavour,” Rod & Ben’s founder Roddy Hall said.
The soups have been introduced after securing a string of new listings with Abel & Cole, Ocado, Booths and Planet Organic – and will be followed by further soup launches in the winter.
