Royal Hawaiian Orchards has added to its line-up of macadamia nut foods with a new range of dairy-free macadamia nut milks.
Made from real macadamias, Royal Hawaiian Orchards’ new nut milks are available in four “better-for-you” varieties: sweetened and unsweetened original, and sweetened and unsweetened vanilla. Packed in 32fl oz cartons, they contain between 35 and 60 calories per 8oz serving and offer consumers “the buttery-rich flavour of macadamia nuts” in a shelf-stable beverage format.
The nut milks boast 50% more calcium than traditional dairy milk and are perfect for drinking chilled straight from the glass or in a cup of coffee, the brand said.
They are also an excellent source of vitamin E, are low glycaemic and contain no artificial ingredients. Each variety is non-GMO project verified, vegan and free from gluten, wheat and lactose, among others.
They will retail for $3.49 in select grocery and natural food stores across the US market, joining the company’s existing lines of roasted macadamias, chocolate-covered macadamias, and fruit and macadamia nut crunches.
A Royal Hawaiian Orchards spokesperson said: “In natural form, macadamia nuts are perfect for those with gluten sensitivity; coeliac disease; and paleo, vegan and vegetarian diets. Studies show that the nutritional make-up of macadamia nuts may help support heart health, and management of high cholesterol, blood pressure, weight, diabetes and more. Known as a great source of energy, macadamia nuts assert benefits including being low in cholesterol and high in monounsaturated fats, the same healthy fats found in olive oil and avocados.”
