Hollywood actor Ryan Reynolds has bought a stake in US gin brand Aviation Gin, its co-owner Davos Brands has announced.
Reynolds follows other high-profile actors to venture into the spirits category; George Clooney sold his premium tequila brand Casamigos to Diageo last year for $1 billion.
In connection with the investment, Reynolds will play an active role in the day-to-day business of Aviation and oversee creative direction in a bid to expand distribution.
Davos Brands, which also owns Astral Tequila and Sombra Mescal, said Aviation is “an innovative American gin with a unique botanical mix that results in a much smoother, easier drinking flavour than typical London dry gins”.
Aviation is created in small batches in Portland, Oregon, and is said to have juniper flavours in the background and citrus and floral notes in the front.
Reynolds said: “Aviation is the best-tasting gin in the world. Once I tried it, I knew I wanted to get involved with the company in a big way.
“If you think all gin tastes the same, you’d be mistaken. Aviation is in a completely different league and I couldn’t be prouder to be a part of the company.”
Davos Brands CEO Andrew T Chrisomalis said: “We couldn’t be happier that Ryan discovered Aviation. He wholeheartedly embodies the authentic, original spirit of Aviation Gin.
“Ryan has worked tirelessly to create some of the world’s most iconic media properties and will bring that drive and creativity to sharing Aviation with the world.”
