The market has already seen some non-intoxicating hemp juices.
Beverage start-up Sana Hemp Juice has unveiled what it claimed is “the only genuine raw hemp juice that is commercially available on the European market”.
The producer’s cold-pressed green juice contains a range of essential nutrients and the additional benefit of high quantities of cannabidiolacid; it contains 54mg of the anti-oxidant in every 100ml of juice to help detox the body, restore its health balance and generally improve consumers’ wellbeing.
The Netherlands-based company is also releasing different formats of the product: it has already launched a frozen format of the juice, and is preparing to deliver a powdered form during the next few weeks. It exhibited the range at Vitafoods Europe, which was held in Geneva, Switzerland, earlier this month.
Sana demonstrated its hemp juice production in a new video.
Hemp juice is derived from the same family of plants as cannabis; however, while the illegal drugs trade has bred commercial cannabis to contain high levels of psychoactive substances and low levels of the medicinal cannabidiol, Sana hemp juice contains high levels of cannabidiol and only traces of the psychoactive ingredient tetrahydrocannabinol.
“Hemp is one of the oldest, most versatile, and important natural resources for humans, and has been used for over 10,000 years,” the company claimed.
A brand spokesperson said: “In many ways, Sana Hemp Juice is the ultimate green juice: not only does Sana Hemp Juice have a wide range of vitamins, minerals, and enzymes, it also has cannabidiol – a compound know to have specific health benefits of its own.”
Other hemp juice products are available. Kama Hemp Juice has been available in Europe since 2013.
Any claims made regarding medical benefits and research are made by Sana Hemp Juice and have not been verified.
