US condiment and seasoning company Sauer Brands is expanding into the salsa category with the acquisition of Mateo’s Gourmet Salsa for an undisclosed sum.
Sauer Brands owns Duke’s Mayonnaise, Kernel Season’s, The Spice Hunter and its own range of spices and seasonings.
Founded in 2010, the Mateo’s product line-up includes: Cantina Style salsa, Hatch Chile salsa, Habanero salsa and Salsa Verde, as well as two varieties of bloody Mary mix. Mateo’s products are made using all-natural ingredients and are gluten-free.
“With the resources and investment Sauer Brands will bring to Mateo’s, we are confident we can accelerate what is already an amazing growth story for the brand,” said Sauer Brands’ president and CEO, Martin Kelly.
Mateo’s offerings are sold across the country through stores such as Costco, Walmart, Target, Publix and Kroger.
