Scrubbys, an award-winning British vegetable crisp brand, has launched two new ‘healthy’ crisp variants; a four vegetable mix of Beetroot, Sweet Potato, Parsnip & Carrot with Sea Salt and Parsnip Crisps with Chilli & Lime Zing.
Each pack is gluten free, high fibre and ‘at least 30% less fat and 18% less calories than other standard fried vegetable crisps’ – according to the brand. The range has no artificial colours or flavours and is vegetarian and vegan friendly.
The Scrubbys range is available in 40g (RRP £1.25) and 100g (RRP £2.49) packs and is stocked in the ‘free from’ aisle at Waitrose nationwide and online at Ocado. The range is also available from independent retailers throughout the UK.
Founders John and Claire Brumby appeared on the Dragon’s Den TV show in 2014, hoping to generate investment. Despite the offer of funds from dragon Duncan Bannatyne, they did not secure the capital they needed, instead obtaining a six figure sum from Granary Investments in August 2014.
Co-founder Claire Brumby said: “Scrubbys is on a mission to provide great tasting and healthy vegetable crisps to snackers throughout the country. The brand was born out of our frustration at the lack of truly wholesome snacks that appealed to both adults and kids. We wanted to revolutionise people’s current snacking options by providing a healthy alternative.”
