From September, Selecta will install 2,150 new vending machines in 819 stations of SNCF’s network.
“This is the most important order ever for Selecta France and, in fact, for the whole Selecta Group,” said Group CEO Remo Brunschwiler. “It reflects the trust that the Gares et Connexions branch of SNCF puts in our capability to deliver first-rate solutions in a passenger service area that’s gaining in importance.”
Covering a period of 10 years, the award of this highly sought-after contract confirms Selecta’s position as the undisputed leader in the European vending market.
The new vending machines will feature a see-through glass displaying a larger range of products. A new standard will also be set along the whole buying process based on digital and e-connected technologies such as digital screens, real-time refunds, connections to My Selecta apps, contactless payment methods complementing traditional ones, and other functionalities will provide for ‘a unique consumer experience’.
This experience will be deepened by a major improvement in ergonomics. Products will be dispensed at a comfortable height of one metre, with the flap opening automatically. The same is true for change, so bending down to collect change or opening the flap with just one hand will all be things of the past.
The new generation of machines will underline Selecta’s ability to transform the traditional vending business into a fully interactive concept that’s aligned with new, e-connected consumer behaviours.
