British brand Sheppy’s aims to tap into growing consumer demand for low-alcohol beverages with its new “light and crisp” cider.
With an ABV 0.5%, the classic cider is said to have the same flavour profile as Sheppy’s traditional cider, but with less alcohol. It is made with a blend of Somerset traditional and dessert cider apples and aims to respond to today’s changing consumer lifestyle choices.
Sheppy’s drew attention to the growth potential of the low-alcohol sector, with UK sales estimated to have increased by 30% last year.
The brand believes that consumers are drinking less in terms of quantity and more in terms of quality. The launch follows on from the introduction last year of a brand refresh.
Sheppy’s master of cider David Sheppy said: “We spotted the growing trend for low alcohol as consumers’ lifestyle choices are changing. People like to enjoy a drink or two but are looking for options with lower alcohol that still taste great and are made well.
“Our new cider offers all our craft credentials’ flavour and excellent quality, with a lower ABV. I have spent a lot of time perfecting this recipe to ensure that it stays true to our traditional craft cider roots.”
With over 90 acres of organic cider orchard, the Sheppy’s cider farm is where David grows 30 varieties of Somerset cider apples.
