“The crop this year is generally shorter than in previous years,” said research manager Dr Simon Hook.
He added: “Although there appear to be no current major concerns with mycotoxins, with shorter straw there’s the increased potential for rain to splash to the ears and increase the risk of contamination.”
The ADAS Harvest report prepared for HGCA indicates that all Group 1 and 2 milling wheats are meeting specifications.
