P&F Wineries has launched two new vintages under its Puklavec & Friends brand – described as “two of the most exciting wines to come from Slovenia this year”.
Puklavec & Friends’ sauvignon blanc and pinot grigio is billed as “a fruity, accessible wine aromas of passionfruit, elderflower and red apple underscored by a surprising pepperiness”. Grown and hand-picked in Northeastern Slovenia, a region known for its good growing conditions, the 12% ABV beverage boasts “a delicious, fresh aftertaste” that gives it an incredible versatility.
Meanwhile, the winery’s Furmint 2013 vintage is produced in the east of the country, where it is given time to develop its “deliciously herbal and spicy characteristics”. Made using the furmint grape varietal and featuring an ABV of 13.5%, it is described as “a well-balanced and medium-bodied wine with a satisfying aftertaste” with “notes of white flowers, citrus and apple”.
Both new products have launched into Waitrose stores across the UK with retail prices of £8.99 and £9.99 respectively.
P&F Wineries managing director Tatjana Puklavec said: “As consumer demand for modern, clean wine styles increases, so to does the popularity of Slovenian and Macedonian wines in the UK. It’s time to sit up and take notice! As a country, we are producing crisp, refreshing white wine styles that are currently very popular with UK consumers. The launch of our 2015 Sauvignon Blanc and Pinot Grigio and 2013 Furmint provides us with a fantastic opportunity to share Slovenian wine with a wide customer base, helping Slovenia take its place as a significant wine producing nation and raise awareness of its rich viticultural heritage.”
