SodaStream has launched a new product – a range of single-sachet infusions – which it has described as ‘the brand’s most innovative product’ to date.
SodaStream Infusions features individual sachets designed to deliver one of four herb and fruit blends. Its launch, the company said, represents an entirely new category within the flavoured water industry.
When suspended inside a freshly carbonated bottle of water, each Infusion sachet allows the flavour inside to permeate the water, with just a hint of herb and fruit flavours coming through. Each sachet infuses one SodaStream bottle of sparkling water. The four trendy blends include citrus fruits; lemongrass and verbena – a type of flowering plant; wild rose, hibiscus and berries; plus wild orchid and spices.
A spokesperson for the Israeli drinks company said: “In line with the brand’s strategy to make water exciting, Infusions mark the most significant innovation of recent years in the global water industry. SodaStream is the first beverage brand to use the innovative concept of infusion to enrich freshly carbonated water with herb and spice blends.”
And SodaStream CEO Daniel Birnbaum added: “Inspired by the world of tea, consumers are now empowered to bring the goodness of nature’s garden into their sparking water creations. This is one of the most exciting and creative product initiatives I’ve worked on because it takes water into a completely new and unexpected experience. I hope millions of consumers will share my excitement with our Infusions.”
The new Infusions range will retail in the US at $6.99 for a pack of eight sachets, rolling out to retailers in the third quarter of this year.
‘New fruit drops’
SodaStream has also launched a line-up of unsweetened and naturally flavoured fruit essences that consumers can add to water.
The Fruit Drops will help consumers to make still water more exciting, and will take advantage of the shift away from sugar-laden sodas – particularly in the US.
With as many as 80 servings in each concentrated bottle, the Fruit Drops range will be available in coconut, orange, lemon, lime, raspberry, pear, mango and lemon-strawberry flavours.
The 40ml glass bottles will retail in the US for $3.99, available from June.
Birnbaum continued: “SodaStream is on a mission to make water exciting for millions of consumers around the world.
“Fruit Drops is our first product initiative that invites consumers to enhance ordinary water as well as fizzy water simply by adding a twist of naturally flavored fruit essence. Fruit Drops offer great taste, great value and a great way for consumers to hydrate healthy.”
