Sonoma Creamery has created what it claims are the world’s first crispy cheese-based snack bars, which will be available in the US.
Five flavours will be available in the range: Parmesan, Everything Cheddar, Savory Seed, Pepper Jack and Bacon Cheddar.
Every bar in the range contains real cheese, 8g of protein and 0g of sugar, and the brand claims it has introduced the range to appeal to consumers who desire snacks made from simple ingredients and contain low levels of sugar.
Bars will be sold in single-serve packs and packs of two, and will have a suggested retail price of $1.99 per bar.
John Crean, president & CEO of Sonoma Creamery said: “Our Cheese Crisp Bars are the perfect solution to satisfy those mid-day or afternoon cravings but without all that sugar or the long ingredient list which you find in most snack bars.
“It’s the single serve, savoury snack bar option that everyone has always wanted but nobody was able to come up with until now.
“America’s eating habits are now in rapid transition. As busy as people are, and as action-packed as our lives are in the digital age, fewer and fewer people have the time to prepare or eat three large sit-down meals.
“Increasingly, consumers are eating 5-7 smaller meals throughout the day. This both fits their active lifestyles and, as some research suggests, may be healthier in the long run for our digestion and even promote weight loss.”
