AI food technology start-up, Spoon Guru, has announced the launch of a new ‘Immunity Support Tag’, as it responds to increased consumer demand for immunity-boosting foods in the wake of Covid-19.
Amid the escalating coronavirus pandemic, the London-based firm suggests that shoppers are seeking out foods and supplements that will support and strengthen their bodies’ immune defences.
Such findings are echoed in recent research by Chicory, which observed an uptick of interest in so-called superfood ingredients among US consumers.

The proprietary Immunity Support Tag was developed by the company’s in-house team of nutritionists and data scientists.
Spoon Guru uses AI and machine learning, along with nutritional expertise, to match products with consumer preferences and requirements. Its Health & Wellness platform analyses products’ nutritional values and ingredients, allowing it to allocate appropriate nutritional tags.
According to Spoon Guru, its latest tag will enable retailers to respond to customer demand for immune strengthening foods, by making it easier for consumers to locate these foods online, or, through physical labels and aisle markers, in-store.
Commenting on the launch, Spoon Guru’s CEO and co-founder Markus Stripf said: “We know consumers are now more than ever looking for foods that support a healthy diet to strengthen their natural defenses. It is also a way that people can gain a sense of control during uncertainty.
“Spoon Guru has used its expertise, and the EU’s current RDA’s to create an expansive nutrient based tag which will help with a healthy immune system to fight off viruses and bacteria.
“We hope the use of our technology can help support people choosing the right foods during the current health crisis.”
