US-based meat snack producer Stryve Foods has acquired cured meat manufacturer Braaitime for an undisclosed fee, making Stryve the sole owner of all USDA approved biltong facilities in the US.
Stryve also acquired biltong producer Biltong USA in January, so this purchase puts the brand in a dominant position in the US biltong market.
Braaitime will become a subsidiary of Stryve Foods, though it will continue to operate under the Braiitime brand.
Braaitime has been producing dry cured meats for the US market since 2006, and received a USDA certification in 2012.
Joe Oblas, Stryve Foods COO states, “Consumers are becoming more aware of what they put in their bodies and are looking for natural products with fewer ingredients.
“We are dedicated to replacing the facings of jerky on shelves with the future of protein snacks – biltong.”
Warren Pala, the founder and division president of Braaitime will now be appointed director of manufacturing for Stryve Foods LLC.
Pala added: “I am delighted that our dream of bringing biltong to every home in America is on its way to becoming a reality, and look forward to being a part of the team that will make this happen.”
