Südpack has formed a joint venture with Indian packaging manufacturer Kamakshi Flexiprints, as it seeks to accelerate its growth internationally.
Founded in 1994 and based in Ahmedabad, Kamakshi Flexiprints produces printed flexible packaging materials for food and non-food uses.
The JV is setting up a new facility close to Ahmedabad, which will cater to the Indian market with products including barrier and convenience flexible packaging.
Scheduled for opening in summer 2021, the plant will reportedly have extrusion, printing, coating and lamination capabilities.
“We see a growing demand for high quality in barrier, medical and lidding flexible materials in the Indian market, mainly due to the evolving matured packaging needs in the Indian sub-continent arising from constant demographic changes,” said Tharcisse Carl, managing director of the Germany-based Südpack Group.
“With Kamakshi Flexiprints we have found a partner to share our culture and our strategy and last but not least our high standards of quality and service to our customers.”
Harish Goel, managing director of Kamakshi Flexiprints, added: “Together with our partner we are building the process capabilities to deliver advanced structures of flexible packaging for which Südpack has a long and deep understanding.
“With the well-designed infrastructure we will be able to meet the industry-specific operational excellence facilitated inter alia by the automation in process control.”
Earlier this year, Südpack presented two new mono-material packaging solutions for minced meat, designed as sustainable alternatives to standard packaging.
