A new British coffee brand focused on ‘sustainability, obsessive care, dedication and passion’ has hit the UK market.
The Real Coffee Bean Co. has been launched by Shahid Mehdi who aims to follow on from the success of The Real Basmati Rice Co. which he founded.
The new Fairtrade coffee brand hopes to use natural and traditional methods of farming which have been passed down the generations to create a better tasting beverage.
Co-founder Shahid Mehdi said: “Like with our rice, our new Fairtrade coffee business is centred around sustainability, obsessive care, dedication and passion.
“We are proud to introduce three flavours of coffee: Brazilian, Colombian and our own House Blend which brings you the best of Brazil, with Central America and Ethiopia (Sidamo) added to the mix.”
Working with farmers from small holdings as well as cooperatives, the brand wants to share a philosophy centred on using less machinery in favour of more manual labour to harvest beans. This will, the company claims, help create jobs and be more environmentally friendly.
The 200g bags of coffee are currently available to purchase by email and the company will add more coffee varieties to its range in the future.
