Tea producer Bloom has launched a new range of eight antioxidant-rich matcha tea powders using some of the world’s most potent superfoods.
Bloom tea is available in mojito, peppermint and two rooibos varieties – chill out and warmup – as well as original; yerba maté; mango; ginger and ginseng; maca root and guarana; açaí and ginkgo biloba; and grapefruit green tea blends.
The company said that matcha powder contains more than five times the antioxidant levels of goji berries and 13 times as much as pomegranate per gram. The new range of match powder teas, it added, can help to reduce stress and anxiety, strengthen the immune system and improve cholesterol balance.
It also claimed that the teas promote more youthful-looking skin, as the high antioxidant levels “help reduce tissue damage caused by UV radiation and pollution”.
Boom said: “Drinking green tea is healthy but many of the antioxidants remain trapped within the tea leaves, which aren’t tasty chewing on either. The Japanese solved this dilemma by grinding premium green tea leaves into a fine powder called matcha, which Buddhist monks used for centuries to stay alert and focused throughout meditation. Samurai warriors also used it as an energy fix before battle.”
The range will be available from retailers Harvey Nichols, Selfridges, Wholefoods and Planet Organic in 30g jars.
