The product contains a third less fat and 30% less table salt than standard Cheddar. It sits alongside the ground-breaking reduced salt mild cheddar that was introduced into the Tesco range earlier in the year and will be available in a medium strength variety to tempt cheese lovers who enjoy a stronger flavour.
Tesco has long been a supporter of healthy eating options and the reduced fat & salt cheese was an obvious choice when looking to expand their own label range. Cheese buyer, David Chamberlain commented: “We have worked closely with Helers for many years and are continually impressed with their tireless innovation and new product development. When presented with the product, we instantly saw the potential and strived to get it on our shelves as quickly as possible, having no doubt that this product is the beginning of something revolutionary for both of our businesses.”
