Michela Vallalta director of consumer intelligence with Tetra Pak speaks about shopping alongside the consumer in emerging markets.
Claire Phoenix questions her regarding urbanization and the growth of the convenience store, e-commerce and how the appearance of a carton is becoming yet more critical for online sales.
Older consumers need a package that is age friendly – one that is easy to open without help – and Tetra Pak are looking at formats and closures with this in mind. Other areas of interest are: Consumer occasions requiring instant gratification – “Make my life work” and products meeting individual consumer needs, eg “Make my life meaningful”.
Additionally messages on pack are becoming even more important when it comes to recycling – as the consumer becomes more informed regarding carbon footprint and sustainability.
