Gourmet yogurt brand The Collective has unveiled plans to add a kirsch cherry variety for the first time this New Year.
The limited edition 500g tubs of morello cherry and kirsch-flavoured yogurt will be available from all major supermarkets in the UK with a recommended retail price of £2.39. Inspired by Black Forest gateaux and timed to coincide with the growing popularity of cherry as a yogurt flavour, the new product combines The Collective yogurt with sour morello cherries and a splash of kirsch liqueur, the brand said.
The unique alcoholic variety will be available until March 2016, rolling out nationwide to 1,200 stores. This new edition promises to provide a kick throughout the winter months, whether it’s at breakfast, snack time or as a post-dinner treat, The Collective continued.
With only 5% fat, it is also the perfect pudding alternative and will meet demand for innovative products that provide consumers with guilt-free indulgence. The variant follows the launch of the brand’s raspberry and amaretto-flavoured yogurt in 2013, as well as pink grapefruit and yuzu, and rhubarb, vanilla and lemongrass editions this year.
The Collective co-founder Amelia Harvey said: “With cherry proving such a popular flavour with consumers, The Collective is excited to introduce its own take on this British favourite.
“This innovative new product takes inspiration from the iconic Black Forest gateau and pairs delicious morello cherries with a splash of kirsch liqueur. At just 5% fat, this new product provides a unique offering, meeting demand for those looking for an innovative product and some measured indulgence in the New Year.
“Releasing limited editions in this way allows us to keep innovation at the heart of our brand, providing exciting new varieties for consumers alongside the popular flavours in our core range.”
