By taking over Hornchurch UK-based Strowmar, Thermotraffic intends to increase its seaport logistics activities and grow further in the UK. The costs for this takeover amount to about a million Euros.
The newly business will be known as Thermotraffic Strowmar Ltd.
Martin Evans, founder and so far sole owner of Strowmar, is going to be manager of the new company for the next two years to guarantee a smooth transition. Rob Haesakkers, managing director of Thermotraffic Holland, will be appointed as managing director.
“Strowmar’s portfolio fits Thermotraffic’s growth strategy perfectly“, Rob Haesakkers explained. “Strowmar’s long-term experience in custom clearance is especially important to Thermotraffic“.
Strowmar’s close proximity and connectivity to all important English harbours and their experience in imports and exports of foods of animal origin to/from the EU and third countries, are very advantageous.
“Expanding these activities is an important part of Thermotraffic’s strategy”, Haesakkers said. “By taking over Strowmar Ltd, Thermotraffic Holland alone increases its clearance business by 10%”. Furthermore, Strowmar’s business is expected to be easily integrated in existing Thermotraffic activities.
By expanding their service portfolio in the UK as far as seaport logistics are concerned and by taking over existing structures, Thermotraffic intends to strengthen its position as specialist in temperature-controlled transports and seaport logistics in Europe.
