The mineral water is named after the altitude of its source in the Danxiong County, where the Hong Kong-based company captures the water. The product is processed at a facility near Lhasa, capital of the Tibet Autonomous Region in the People’s Republic of China.
Originally, the company began producing 5100 in 2005 at its two bottling lines, each with a capacity of 24,000 bottles an hour. Yet, with increasing market demand, HKZJ is opening a new production line in April with an additional capacity of 36,000 bottles an hour.
5100 retails between 6.5 and 9 yuan in Beijing’s supermarkets – two or three times more than other mineral water brands.
