Treehouse Foods has launched a new range of Steep 18 cold-brew coffees.
Sourced from the highest-quality Arabica beans, and then steeped for 18 hours to ensure the most potency and taste, the products are available in six different varieties: breakfast blend, Colombian, doughnut blend, Guatemalan, signature blend, and Sumatran.
Packed in slim cartons, the coffees fall in line with the growing cold-brew trend. Starbucks announced earlier today that it would launch its two-year-old nitro cold-brew concept on tap in up to 100 stores in the UK this year, ahead of a potential roll-out to additional European markets later.
Unlike conventional iced coffee that is made from hot-brewed drip, which is then cooled and poured over ice, cold-brew coffee is made from pouring cold or room temperature water over coffee grounds. The grounds are then steeped for at least 12 hours, which results in a drink that is less acidic and not bitter, but still rich, smooth and sweet.
Shannon Clayton, senior category manager for TreeHouse Foods, said: “Customer and consumer response to our Cold Brew Coffee in carton packs has been extremely positive. Consumers love the quality of the product and its one year shelf life without any preservatives.”
