Tyson Foods has invested $27 million to upgrade its prepared foods production site in Caseyville, Illinois.
According to Tyson, the upgrade programme is part of a “strategic plan to increase efficiency and better support the plant’s production capabilities”, and will see three new production lines installed at the facility, significantly expanding production capacity at the site.
The three new lines will become operational in March, and will be capable of producing approximately 16 million pounds of product annually.
Approximately 100 new jobs will be created as a result of the investment programme, according to Tyson.
This latest venture follows several significant production investments made by the meat producer in the last year. In May 2019, the company’s Tyson Fresh Meats subsidiary – which produces beef and pork products – committed around $300 million to build a new production site in Utah, estimated to open in 2021.
Tyson also announced the creation of a new facility in Springdale, Arkansas called the Tyson Manufacturing Automation Center (TMAC) in August 2019. The site is designed to help the company develop more automated and robotic solutions for its food production plants.
