Ucha Kombucha has launched a new six-flavour range of “detoxifying and invigorating” kombucha-based drinks for the UK market.
Available in natural, pomegranate boost, lemon, ginger, yerba maté and chai varieties, the colourful beverages offer a raw and low-in-sugar alternative to existing offerings and retails for £1.79.
The brand said that kombucha is “full of enzymes and probiotics” and “known to improve digestion, boost the immune system and reduce anxiety and stress”. Originating in Japan, the drink is traditionally a naturally fermented green or sweetened black tea, which Ucha Kombucha’s founder first discovered while living in the US.
The company has exhibited the range at Natural & Organic Products Europe, which was staged last month in London.
Ucha Kombucha co-founders Laurent and Simon said: “We are lifelong believers of healthy food. Our body needs to be nourished, as with the mind, with proper nutrients. We discovered kombucha ten years ago, brewing it with friends in our kitchen and now are brewing it for others!”
The organic drinks also claim to “play a major role in social integration”: the ingredients are supplied through fairtrade cooperatives and are carbon-compensated thanks to a reforestation program in Amazonia. As part of its bottling operation, the company additionally offers employment opportunities to people with disabilities.
