It’s also welcome that recycling has increased. For plastic bottles, the latest UK rate is 48%. This is less than it should be, but the figure will soon pass the 50% mark and that’s progress.
So where’s the shame? It’s not only a shame, but also shameful, that 10% of local authorities still don’t offer plastic bottle collection services.
In Northern Ireland, it’s 0%. In Wales, it’s 0%. In England, however, it’s 11%. And in Scotland, it’s 12%. If you live in one of these authority areas, don’t let it be your shame too.
