Unilever’s Dutch food brand Unox has hired creative agency Anthem to create packaging for its new vegetarian smoked ‘sausage’.
Unox has taken four years to develop the vegetarian Rookworst product. The launch is a response to the growing number of flexitarian consumers.
Anthem said the packaging design needed to stand out from the rest of the Unox range and also be able to stand alone given its placement in store away from the brand’s core range.
Avoiding traditional use of product photography, Anthem said it has created “a bold and iconic design”.
A more simple and contemporary design aims to encourage consumers to reappraise the brand as well as appeal to new consumer groups.
Anthem Benelux design director Sara Jones said: “We’re proud to have helped the Unox team respond to and capitalise on changes in consumer desires and are excited to keep exploring design for a changing world as the brand looks to diversify their product range.”
Founded in the 1930s, Unox produces a range of meat products as well as soups and ready meals.
