Lighter drinks producer Unsweet Drinks will this week launch its brand of lightweight lemonades in to Harvey Nichols.
Unsweet Lemonade is made using only three ingredients: lightly sparkling water, Sicilian lemons and Mexican limes. With just eight calories in every 275ml bottle, it is being marketed as the “lightest natural drink in the world” and offers a lighter compromise to heavy soft drinks and flavourless light offerings.
Co-founder Andre Hess said: “I have worked in the drinks industry for eight years and I think consumers are ready for a new taste experience. A carbonated natural drink with near zero calories is the holy grail of soft drinks and consumer feedback has been fantastic so far.
“Sugar has a bad reputation and so do artificial sweeteners, plus stevia has a bad aftertaste that so far nobody has been able to mask successfully. Unsweet lemonade fits the zeitgeist and we hope to capitalise on the government’s drive to reduce sugar in soft drinks.”
Its introduction will be supported with “experiential marketing, tastings and social media competitions and advertising,” Unsweet Drinks said. It will be available in foodservice and health shops with an RRP of £1.39, and the company has indicated that it is keen to open early dialogue with retailers.
