US frozen dessert manufacturer The Pie People has extended its JC’s brand of frozen panna cotta lollies with the addition of eight Nudies.
Combining frozen cream with flavoured swirls, the range is an adaptation of the brand’s original Pie Pops line, which have traditionally been covered in fruit, nut and confectionery pieces. They will initially be available in four flavour combinations: cookies and cream, peanut butter and fudge, mint chocolate, and salted caramel.
The 2.25oz lollies are sold in boxes of four, and provide no more than 130 calories per bar. They are made using non-GMO ingredients and artificial growth hormone-free milk.
Founder Jennifer Constantine explained: “I love to throw parties and make food for friends. One night in 2010, I made a whole bunch of panna cotta dessert bowls and placed them in the refrigerator to set. My fridge went a little cuckoo and froze them solid. I was about to throw out the whole batch when my fiancé came home and started eating bowl after bowl, exclaiming ‘this frozen stuff is better than the regular kind’. I had to see what all the fuss was about, so I tasted it and sure enough he was right!
“I decided that these JC’s Pie Pops… needed to be shared with the rest of the world and I got to work. I started experimenting with flavours and textures, and after about a year of painstaking research and development, I partnered with some food industry insiders to bring JC’s Pie Pops to grocery stores.”
