Global food ingredients manufacturer Valio has introduced ValSa onto the marketplace to reduce salt intake in dairy products.
The company says ValSa will reduce salt by up to 50% without altering the taste, with Valio using ValSa in many of its current products including: oltermanni cheese, which now has 35% less salt than ordinary cheeses and its oivariini butter spread, which now has 30% less salt than fat on average.
Paavo Salminen spoke with FoodBev Media’s Darren Wood about the concept, how long it’s been in production and what this innovation can do for its customers.
