Villa Soft Drinks has been in business since 1885 producing mineral waters, flavoured water, fruit juice and carbonated soft drinks.
Slatcher told The Journal that he believed the company’s strong brand value would enable the business to survive. “I’m delighted we’ve been able to prevent the closure of this much-loved North East brand,” he said. “I believe we can increase turnover from the current £6m to £10m over the next few years, and employ more local staff. This project heralds a new dawn for Villa Soft Drinks.”
The full details of the transaction were not disclosed. However, development agency One NorthEast backed the deal, which saved the company from administrators BDO Stoy Hayward with a £135,000 grant, along with support from Sunderland City Council.
The Villa Soft Drinks range includes Hadrian Clear, Hadrian Spring, Wild Waters, Crystal Juice, Crystal Frooti, Crystal Spring, Villa 2 litre Pops, V33, Villa Mixers, Mr Fenwick, Fruit Jet and HC Kids.
